Prof. Albena Kerekovska, MD, PhD

She graduated from the First Language School - Varna, English Language Teaching. After that she graduated Medicine from the Medical University - Varna in 1990. Since 1995 she has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care and since 2007 – an Associate Professor at the same Department. Acquired specialty in "Social Medicine and Health Management" in 1999. In 2004 she defended a dissertation thesis in the UK, entitled "International Politics of Health Promotion and Tobacco Control - Improvement of the Process of Transcultural Transfer".

Publications

She has over 60 publications and approximately 50 participations at scientific conferences. The main research developments are in the field of Health Policy; Health Promotion; Determinants of Public Health; Inequalities in Health; Contemporary Bioethical Issues; Training and Professionalization of Public Health.

Member of: European Public Health Association, Bulgarian Association of Healthcare Management, Scientific Society for Social Medicine, Union of Scientists in Bulgaria (USB), Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA); Expert in Bioethics at UNESCO.
