On Modern Diabetes

From 25th to 27th April 2013 the Second postgraduate training course in diabetes, entitled "MODERN DIABETES" will be held, under the auspices of the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD). Within two days world-renowned lecturers will present the modern treatment and prognosis in early onset diabetes, "Meet the Expert" sessions will be held (lectures in accessible, popular language), as well as interactive sessions with an entry to the training portal of the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), entirely in English language.

The huge success of the first ISPAD course in 2011,entitled "Multifaceted Diabetes", has attracted more than 80 registered participants this year, including doctors from Estonia, Brazil, Latvia, the Czech Republic, etc. Prof. Francesco Chiarelli (Italy), the President of ESPE, Prof. Sean Ellard (UK) and Prof. Stenvert Drop (the Netherlands), who are members of the Editorial Board of Scripta Scientifica Medica journal, Prof. Orit Pinhas- Hamiel (Israel), Prof. Jan Lebl (the Czech Republic) and others are among the lecturers. The participants in the course will receive a certificate, issued by ISPAD.

The course is organized by the Varna Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and is supported by Medical University – Varna and "St. Marina" University Hospital - Varna, as well as the Union of Scientists - Varna. A preferential participation fee of 50 levs is provided for intern doctors, with excellent knowledge of English language, if a registration is made at: detendo.varna @

Within the course, a lecture on "Diabetes in cystic fibrosis" will be delivered in accessible language (for non-medics), interpreted in Bulgarian, at 5 pm, on April 26th. Prof. Stanislava Kolouskova from Prague will be the lecturer. Representatives of patients' organizations, patients and their relatives, the media and the public of the city are invited to attend the lecture. It will be delivered in the Main hall of Admiral Hotel, Zlatni Pyasatsi (Golden Sands).
