MU-Varna Opened a Modern Laboratory “3D Technologies in Dentistry”

The only one of its kind laboratory "3D Technology in Dentistry" in our country was opened in "Assoc. Prof. Dr. D. Klisarov" Auditorium, at the Faculty of Dental Medicine of Medical University - Varna. Symbolically, the ribbon was cut by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Accreditation and Quality Prof. Todorka Kostadinova and the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Tonchev.

In the laboratory, students will be able to make models with a 3D printer and a laboratory 3D scanner as early as their 2nd year of training. The system not only reduces the required time for creating models but also ensures much greater precision. The operating principle of the 3D printer is layer-by-layer construction of models through photopolymerization of photopolymers. The set also includes an apparatus for additional polymerization after printing. The laboratory was accomplished under Project № NSF B02/19, from 19 December 2014, with beneficiary MU-Varna, and the financial support of NSF at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria.
