Medical University-Varna hosted the European School of Pathology (EScoP) for the fifth consecutive year from 2nd to 4th May 2019. The topics discussed during this year's edition were related to breast tumours and the new situations in view of their therapy and diagnostics.
MU-Varna is the only university in Bulgaria allowed to host this event, which is traditionally attended by specialists from the country and abroad.
The forum gathered together 60 specialists from Bulgaria, Hungary and Croatia, which is the maximum participant limit, which allows for better working communication between lecturers and participants. "However, more than 100 doctors and post-graduate students have declared their desire to participate," said Dr. Stoyan Aleksov, chairman of the Bulgarian Society of Pathology.
During the three-day training lecturers were distinguished specialists in the field of pathology, who deal with breast tumours and the problems related to the types of treatment - Prof. Anna Sapino (Italy), Prof. Maria Pia Foschini (Italy), Dr. Tibor Tot (Sweden) and Prof. Dr. Gabor Chesny (Hungary). They are also members of the Board of the European Society of Pathology (ESP).
The strong interest in the School is conditioned by the progress in medicine, and the available diagnostic and therapeutic opportunities. The organizers underlined that that was the best Pathology course, organized on the Balkan Peninsula, which fact was also officially confirmed by reports in Brussels.
