Students and Lecturers from MU-Varna Won Plenty of Awards at the 6th Summer University Games

The 6th Summer University Games, organized by “Academic” University Sports Association, took place in SHC "Kamchia", between 27 and 31 August 2017. More than 300 contestants from the most prestigious Bulgarian universities demonstrated high sports spirits and fair play, with the best of them being awarded with cups and medals. The students who participated in the great sports event this year competed in seven sports: swimming, beach football, tennis, volleyball, basketball 3x3, table tennis and relay-race.

This year the “Academic” University Sports Association Cup, established in memory of Prof. Nikola Hadzhiev, was awarded to Medical University - Varna for its extremely fair and dignified play. The President of the University Sports Association Prof. Zlatko Dzhurov presented the Cup to the Assistant Rector of MU-Varna Eng. Deyan Grancharov, who was among the official guests of the event. In the final standings MU-Varna ranked fourth.

The student from MU-Varna Antoniya Stoyanova achieved a record high score at the Swimming Tournament in women’s 50 m butterfly - 0.32 sec. In a 50m free-style she ranked second. Tsvetelina Keryazova won two third places, respectively in women’s 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

Plamen Trendafilov and Lachezar Stanoev from the team of MU-Varna won the first place in beach volleyball, while Ekaterina Aleksandrova and Betti Damyanova ranked second among the women after an epic final with the team of UNWE.

The first place in table tennis men's pairs was for Hrisimir Todorov and Tsvetomir Yankov from MU-Varna, while again the students of MU-Varna Ivelin Iliev and Yumer Yumerov ranked first in the beach tennis competition.

The strong team of MU - Varna won the gold medals in the traditionally most attractive and popular discipline - beach relay-race.

The Assistant Rector of MU-Varna Eng. Deyan Grancharov and the Head of the Sports Management Board Sen. Lect. Zhulieta Videnova were awarded with the honorary sign of "Academic" USA.

The students of the dance group at Medical University – Varna, with an artistic director Diana Dimitrova, took care of the good mood of all participants in the closing evening.
