MU-Varna Broke a World Record

Four thousand people broke the World Guinness Record for longest DNA chain composed by people on April 23rd 2016 at the South Beach of Varna. The Medical University “Prof. Paraskev Stoyanov” - Varna was the organizer of the event uniting people of all ages. The slogan of the event was “Be a Part of the Future”. The record was recognized by Mr. Jack Brockbank, an official judge of the World Guinness Record who awarded the Official Guinness Certificate to Prof. Krasimir Ivanov, MD, PhD, DSc, Rector of MU-Varna. Four thousand people from different nationalities listened to the Bulgarian National Anthem and the Anthem of Europe and 8 Bulgarian flags composed by people could be seen from a bird’s eye view. The participants and the audience were entertained by talented young singers – Trayan Kostov, Hristina Hristova, the beatboxer Iskren Tonchev – Iskrata (the Spark) and the band Ice Cream who filmed the video for their new single “I Feel Like Dancing”. The folk ensemble of the Medical University of Varna performed traditional folk dances entwining the Bulgarian folk music with the exceptional performance by the sea. The successful improvement of the Guinness World Record is a result of the perfect organization of the Medical University of Varna in support of Varna – European Youth Capital 2017.
