First Bulgarian Simulator for Laparoscopic Surgery Trains Students and Postgraduates of MU-Varna

The first Bulgarian virtual simulator for laparoscopic surgery was presented on April 27th 2016 in University Hospital “St. Marina”, the leading academic clinical structure of the Medical University of Varna. The introduction of the simulator is part of the strategy for the development of higher education in Varna including utilization of new technologies in teaching and development of tele and simulation medicine. Guy Benisti, a guest lecturer from Israel, made a demonstration of the new simulator Simbionix Lap Mentor III and a surgery for physicians, students and media representatives. Assist. Prof. Tsvetelina Borisova, MD, PhD, lecturer at the Faculty of Dental Medicine at MU-Varna presented modern training technologies and the first simulator in dental medicine. Assoc. Prof. Ivan Merdzhanov, Director of the Department of Foreign Language Teaching, Communication and Sport at MU-Varna presented one of the global platforms for electronic learning - the Blackboard platform.
