Prof. Dr. Stefan Peev is the new Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at Medical University - Varna. He was elected by an absolute majority at the General Assembly of the Faculty, held on 10th May. Moreover, during the General Meeting a new number and structure of the Faculty Council was established.
Prof. Peev is also the head of the first University Dental Centre in Bulgaria.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Peev, PhD, D.Sc. was born on 1st January 1974 in the city of Kazanlak. In 1997 he graduated from MU – Sofia, specialty Dental Medicine, with honours. He began working as an intern in a specialized surgery department at the Regional Dental Clinic in Kazanlak. From 2005 to 2008 he was a PhD student at the Department of Oral Surgery at FDM at MU - Plovdiv, and in 2008 he defended a dissertation entitled "Immediate Functional Loading of Intraosseous Osteointegrable Implants", and consequently he was awarded the "Doctor of Physiology" Scientific Degree in scientific specialty "Surgical Dentistry". From 2012 to 2013 he was a full-time Assistant Professor at the Department of Periodontology and OMD at FDM at MU - Plovdiv and a part-time Assistant Professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Periodontology - FDM at MU - Varna. Since 2013 he has been a full-time Associate Professor at MU - Varna and head of the Department of Periodontology and Dental Implantology. In 2016 he became a Professor of Dental Implantology. In 2017 Prof. Dr. Stefan Peev was awarded with "Varna" Individual Prize in the field of "Humanities" for his entire research, teaching and therapeutic activities in the field of Dental Implantology, and for the establishment and management of the first University Dental Centre at Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" - Varna. He has more than 100 scientific papers with a number of original contributions to Dental Implantology worldwide.
