“The Child as a Patient” Has Brought Together Specialists from Various Fields in Veliko Tarnovo

The scientific-practical conference entitled "The child as a Patient. Psychosomatics in Childhood" has brought together specialists in various fields - Pediatrics, Homeopathy, Psychology, Pedagogy, Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis in Veliko Tarnovo. The beginning of the series of the conferences "The Child as a Patient" was launched at the Affiliate of Medical University – Varna in Veliko Tarnovo, with co-organizers - the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Faculty of Public Health at MU-Varna.

The conference was opened by the director of the Affiliate Assoc. Prof. Diana Dimitrova, who read a greeting on behalf of the Rector Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov.

The main focus of the conference was modern interdisciplinary approach to the child. The programme included 12 lecturers from different higher schools - Medical University-Varna, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the University of Veliko Turnovo "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" and the European School of Clinical Homeopathy, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust - United Kingdom, the Bulgarian Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Association. They presented through lectures and a workshop a variety of views on Psychosomatics in childhood, its clinical manifestations, detection, treatment and prevention in front of more than 120 participants.

Organizers, lecturers and conference participants believe that these first steps have provoked the research interest in these issues in the professional circles, and the specialists together may seek and find relevant answers in everyday practice.

The event was supported by the Bulgarian Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the Bulgarian Medical Homeopathic Organization as well as many companies.
