The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Albena Kerekovska and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Diana Ivanova took part in the 8th edition of the World Forum of Pharmacy Deans and the 77th Annual Congress of the International Federation of Pharmacists in the period of 9-14 September 2017, which were held in Seoul, South Korea. Тhis year MU-Varna has become a full member of the Federation.
At the Dean's Forum the Deans and academic leaders from around the world discussed the guidelines for transforming the curricula of the educational institutions in the field of Pharmacy, aimed at achieving better healthcare outcomes. Issues regarding the role of the Faculties of Pharmacy were addressed during the conference, focusing on the training of future professionals in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The main focus of the conference was the implementation of the Nanjing Solutions, representing the international vision of the way an effective education system ought to be structured in order to meet the requirements of the local pharmaceutical practice.
Prof. Kerekovska, in her capacity as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Prof. Ivanova, as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, held an official meeting with Prof. Yeong- Ger Su, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at CHA University, South Korea, where they discussed opportunities for inter-university cooperation.
Besides the workshops, where they participated, the representatives of MU-Varna visited a leading innovative pharmaceutical company with a business focus on diabetes, psychoneurotic diseases, human vaccines, medical devices, diagnostics and consumer health, where they got acquainted with the technological process of the production of film-coated tablets and patches for treating the above-mentioned diseases.
The participation of Medical University-Varna in the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy and the International Federation of Pharmacists is a guarantee for higher quality and innovative trends in the training at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Medical University - Varna.
