The new Bulgarian language textbook has come out of print - "I Am Studying in Bulgaria. Video Course in Bulgarian as a Foreign Language for English-Language Learners. Level B1". It is intended for second-year students at MU - Varna. According to the European Language Standard the textbook is categorized in level B1. The team of authors includes lecturers from the Department of Foreign Languages at MU-Varna: Veselina Nyagolova, Daniela Tancheva, Evdokia Skocheva, Yordanka Stefanova, Katerina Peneva and Petya Raykova. The textbook is a part of the annual publishing plan of Medical University Press at MU-Varna.
The edition focuses on the development of speaking and communication skills of medical and dental students. It is a colour edition, full of illustrated exercises, visualizing Bulgarian grammar in the best way and including lesson units divided thematically. All topics contain the same components: two multimedia videos with questions related to them; two dialogues for reading, followed by questions; grammar: grammar exercises; two reading comprehension tasks; two listening tasks; speaking and writing. The instructions to the exercises, the presentation of the grammar categories as well as the examples to them are given both in Bulgarian and in English. The textbook contains a Bulgarian-English vocabulary, including the new words from each lesson.
Although it is intended for students from the English-language training programmes in Medicine and Dental Medicine at MU-Varna, the video course can be used in all medical universities with English-language training in Bulgaria, where Bulgarian is taught as a foreign language.
