Conference MORE 2013 comes up with strategies for treatment, prevention and screening of breast cancer

The Fourth Conference MORE 2013 will be held 10-12 October at the "Admiral" Hotel in Golden Sands. The Conference is part of the National Programme MORE – the Bulgarian abbreviation for Multidisciplinary Oncological Discussions and Extracts.
The scientific programme MORE 2013 will be dedicated to the most common malignant disease in females – breast cancer. One of the tasks for this year's conference is to work out a strategy for breast cancer treatment, prevention and screening and to adopt a national document for the rules of good medical practices for this type of cancer. The working out of an updated manual for the Bulgarian physicians is a result of a national consensus and the one-year efforts of a Board of Experts consisting of 34 specialists with scientific degrees from almost all oncological centres in Bulgaria, which has been convened for the first time in the history of Bulgarian oncological medicine. It includes all the specialists and branch physicians' organisations concerned with breast cancer, e.g. thoracic surgeons, pathologists, geneticists, X-ray specialists, specialists in nuclear medicine, radio- and chemotherapists, clinical laboratory specialists, etc.
Within the framework of MORE 2013, the first annual national award will be given for contribution to Bulgarian clinical oncology. Three young Bulgarian scientists have been nominated for their genuine studies in the field of diagnostic and curative oncology. The prize winner, elected by a secret electronic ballot by the members of the Scientific Committee and the Board of Experts will receive a financial grant and an original honorary figurine featuring the ancient Thracian Darzalas – the patron of Odessos. The awarding ceremony will take place on October 10th from 5:30 p.m. in the "Admiral" Hotel in Golden Sands.

The updated guidelines for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment will be presented at the end of the Conference. Its first version dates from 2010 and this year, an expert board consisting of 10 national specialists has updated the document adding the latest diagnostic and treatment innovations.
