On the eve of 8th December, Varna Municipality awarded prizes to outstanding students. The Mayor of the city Ivan Portnih and the Director of Education and Youth Activities Directorate at the Municipality of Varna Lilia Hristova awarded prizes in eight fields - Pedagogical Sciences; Humanities; Social, Economic and Legal Sciences; Natural Sciences, Informatics and Mathematics; Technical Sciences; Health and Sports; Arts; Security and Defense. In the field of Health and Sports the prize was awarded to the sixth year dental student Miroslav Stoykov Stoykov.
The young people proposed for personal awards have won prizes at national and international Olympiads, competitions and scientific forums. They are proposed by the student councils at the respective universities, after which the proposals are voted and adopted by the Municipal Council - Varna and the Education and Youth Activities Directorate.
On the eve of the Students’ Holiday, other prestigious prizes were also awarded in the "Best Diploma Thesis" competition. In the field of Humanities, the first prize was awarded to Dr. Dimitar Ivanov Grupchev, Master of Health Management for his diploma thesis on "Transplantation of Cells and Tissues in Ophthalmology - Medical, Economic and Legal Aspects", with a supervisor Prof. Todorka Kostadinova. The second place was for Gordana Antovska, Master of Health Care. The topic of her thesis is: "The Attitude of Dental Technicians to Replacing Conventional Casting with Selective Laser Sintering", with a supervisor Assoc. Prof. Maksim Simov.
The competition is organized by the Territorial Organization of Scientific and Technical Unions in Varna, which has celebrated its 110th Anniversary this year. On behalf of the academic community at Medical University-Varna the Vice Rector for Science and Research Prof. Dr. Christina Grupcheva congratulated the Scientific and Technical Unions - Varna on the occasion of their anniversary.
