In the period 7-11 January 2019, Assoc. Prof. Izaskun Andueza from the Social Work Department at the Public University of Navarre visited Medical University of Varna in the framework of the “Erasmus+” Programme. Assoc. Prof. Andueza is a sociologist and studies the problems of migrants, refugees, minorities and vulnerable communities, often exploring them from the point of view of public health. The main target in her working programme was together with the team of the Research Institute at MU-Varna to discuss new opportunities for joint research projects and compare the best practices in Spain and Bulgaria on polices, health and social programmes aimed at women and children - victims of domestic and sexual violence within the framework of the project “Families: Social Exclusion and Places of Safety”, funded by the European Union.
Assoc. Prof. Andueza was acquainted with the activities of the International Relations Department and the Erasmus+ Office at MU – Varna. She proposed cooperation with the Faculty of Health at the Public University of Navarre where the training of medicine will start next year.
At the end of the visit, the Vice Rector for International Relations – Prof. Todorka Kostadinova gave Assoc. Prof. Andueza a certificate for her Erasmus+ mobility and they discussed the possibilities for academic mobility.
