301 Health Specialists from 10 Programmes of Study Graduated from the Faculty of Public Health at MU-Varna

​301 specialists from the Faculty of Public Health at MU - Varna received their diplomas at an official ceremony on 3rd November 2018, in Hall 1 at the Festival and Congress Centre - Varna. The first in Bulgaria Class with medical education in the programme of "Optometrist" - Master educational-qualification degree graduated as well. Sixteen Masters of the only in our country Russian-language Master's Programme in "Public Health and Health Management" were also among the graduate students.

 

The graduates are from ten programmes of study - Bachelor and Master Degrees - Nursing Care, Midwifery, Health Care Management, Health Management, Public Health Protection and Control, Pharmaceutical Management, Rehabilitation, Sea Therapy, Wellness and SPA, and Optometrist. The top student of the Class is Pamela Penyovska, form the programme of Health Management, and fourteen of the graduates complete their studies with GPA higher than 5.50. All bachelors, graduating with Excellent GPA were awarded by the Rector Prof. Ivanov, and two of them received prizes from the Mayor of Varna Mr. Ivan Portnih.

The Rector of MU - Varna Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov addressed the graduates with the words, "It is not just reaching the coveted position that is needed in order to achieve success in your professional pursuits. Real success means building yourselves up every single day, winning little victories that will make you better than yesterday. Development is the key to happiness and success!"

This year has marked also the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the first academic programme in "Health Management" in Bulgaria, which is the reason for the establishment of the Faculty of Public Health at MU - Varna. Assoc. Prof. Emanuela Mutafova, Dean of the Faculty in 2012-2018, was awarded a prize for her exceptional contribution to the development of the educational, international and public activities of the Faculty, and for the enhancement of its reputation and prestige as a leading public health institution in this field at regional, national and international level.

University Hospital “St. Marina” - Varna provides jobs at their choice to ten graduates. Specialized Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital "Prof. Dr. Dimitar Stamatov" provides ten working places for midwives, while Maichin Dom -Varna - 2 places for nurses and 3 places for midwives.  Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment "St. Anna" - Varna offers working opportunities to 25 nurses and 5 midwives, and Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment - Dobrich provides working places for all graduates from the programme of "Nursing Care".

The students from "Health Management" elected the favorites among their lecturers and awarded Assoc. Prof. Emanuela Mutafova and Prof. Stefka Koeva with the title "Favourite Lecturer".

Official guests at the ceremony were the rectors of MU - Varna and members of the Board of Trustees at the University, representatives of the local authorities, as well as managers of medical and social institutions in the city and throughout the country.

The promotion was attended by students from the programmes of "Nursing Care" and "Midwifery" at the Affiliates of the Medical University in the cities of Veliko Tarnovo, Shumen and Sliven. There were also plenty of congratulatory addresses to the graduates and the academic management.
