For the 14th consecutive year on
the eve of 24th of May, the Day of Slavonic Alphabet and Culture,
the Rector of Medical University - Varna Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov awarded one
of the highest distinctions to lecturers and students – the Honorary Blue
Ribbon Sign. The award ceremony was held in the modern First Auditorium at the main
building of Medical University - Varna on 23rd May.
This year's winners of the prestigious award of MU-Varna
are Prof. Dr. Zhaneta Georgieva for her high achievements in the field of Propedeutics
of Internal Medicine in Varna and her long-standing management activities,
Prof. Dr. Iskren Kotsev for his outstanding contribution
to the development of science and practice in the field of Gastroenterology, Hepatology
and Nutrition and Prof. Krasimir Metodiev for his exceptional merits in the
field of Preclinical and Clinical Sciences, for his active scientific and
teaching activities and cooperation in the field of international medical,
scientific and educational exchange.
A collective
award for outstanding contribution in the field of organ donation and
transplantation, and gaining a leading position in the field of realized donor
situations in Bulgaria was presented to a team, headed by Prof. Dr. Viliyan
Platikanov and the doctors and medical professionals at the Department of
Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Neurology, Imaging Diagnostics, Surgery,
Laboratory of Microbiology and Virology at UMHAT "St. Marina". Since
2005 thirty out of more than 120 donor situations have been successfully realized
at UMHAT "St. Marina" - Varna, and more than 100 patients now live a
second life thanks to transplants, after successfully realized donor situations
and their teams.
The former chairperson of the
Student Council at MU - Varna Doichin Nikolov was awarded for special contribution
to promoting and enhancing the prestige of the student community as well as the
prestige of the University at local, national and international level.During the ceremony the diplomas
for the academic positions of "Professor" and "Associate Professor"
and educational and scientific degrees "Doctor” for the first semester of
2017 were awarded.
During the ceremony foreign and Bulgarian students were awarded with the traditional prize named after Dr. Ivan Grupchev for student achievements in Ophthalmology. The prize was awarded by the Vice Rector of Innovation and Translational Medicine Prof. Dr. Hristina Grupcheva.
For the first time this year an award named after Dr. Vasil Hristov for development of young scientists in the field of Neuroscience has been established and awarded by Dr. Hristo Kozhuharov. The PhD students Dr. Silvia Ralovska, Dr. Savina Dimitrova and Dr. Galina Radkova were distinguished with the award.
Official guests at the event were Mr. Antonio Tarquinio - Honorary Consul of Italy, Mr. Krasimir Simov - Honorary Consul of Indonesia, Mr. Hristo Dosev - Honorary Consul of Spain and Prof. Dr. Temelko Temelkov - member of the Council of Trustees at Medical University - Varna.
