The Medical University is a Complex Winner in the 19th Varna Universiade

The students at Medical University - Varna have won the Complex Winner Award in the 19th Varna Universiade. The future medics have gained this recognition after challenging competitions with the students from six Varna universities on the sports fields in Varna.

All students - medal winners in the nine types of sports /volleyball - men and women, mini football, basketball - men and women streetball 3x3, bowling, tennis, chess, swimming, table tennis, athletics cross/ received their awards at a stylish award ceremony, held at "Yanashki Salon" Hall on 28th April. An uncompromising champion, with seven championship titles in all sports has becomde Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna. The grand prize was presented to the Rector of the University Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov by Mr. Kristian Dimitrov, Director of Sports Directorate at Varna Municipality.

Prof. Ivanov congratulated the winners and expressed his feeling of pride in the results achieved. "I wish to all students to be healthy, to achieve success both in their studies, and in sports, to become such good doctors as the good sportsmen they are at the moment. I am absolutely delighted that one of the relatively small universities in Varna has become the complex winner at the Varna Universiade. This really makes us happy. However, this is also a commitment to continue investing in youth activities and especially in sports because there is no university without sports. Every successful university is also developing sports successfully. That is why I am extremely happy and proud of our students", said Prof. Ivanov after the award ceremony.

The teams of MU - Varna have won the first places and gold medals in the swimming competitions, volleyball - men and women, bowling, tennis and football (first team). Our chess and basketball teams have won the silver medals, bronze medals - for the athletics cross and football (second team). MU-Varna scored a total of 1774 points in the competitions and won the Complex Winner Cup; the University of Economics - Varna ranked second with 1737 points; third place – for the students from Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy - Varna with 1267 points, followed by TU, VFU and VUM.

All winners received cups, medals, plaques, diplomas and sports prizes from the organizers at the Municipality. The 19th Varna Universiade was organized and conducted by the Municipality of Varna, the Student Councils and the Academic Sectors in charge with sports at the universities.
