Medical University - Varna and the Department of Anesthesiology, Emergency, Intensive and Maritime Medicine organize the
2015 ANESTHESIA OPEN National Tennis Tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
It is to take place
on 15, 16 and 17 May 2015 in Varna. The Tournament is intended for anesthetists as well as for doctors of other specialties.
More than 60 contestants from Pleven, Sofia, Ruse, Burgas and Varna have registered for the competition so far. Bulgarian and international students from MU-Varna are going to take part in the mixed doubles competition.
Transplant patients across the country also are going to take part at the Tournament for the first time this year. "There are 12 adults and 8 children with organ transplants," says Prof. Dr. Viliyan Platikanov, head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Emergency, Intensive and Maritime Medicine. "They are going to play under the same rules as the rest of the participants. That's the first event of its kind. The main idea is to demonstrate that they are normally socialized people, who live a normal way of life, who can lose or win just like anybody else."
The tournament winner will be awarded with a cup, money prize and a tennis racket. Plenty of prizes such as tennis rackets and other tennis accessories are provided for the participants.
The sports event is to be held on the municipal courts at Chaika residence area.
