Varna College of the Bulgarian Pediatric Association Has Been Established

Varna College of the Bulgarian Pediatric Association (VCBPA) was set up at a meeting of Varna pediatricians and general practitioners last month. The Department of Pediatrics and Medical Genetics at Medical University - Varna was the initiator of the event.

The objective of the College is to unite all the doctors, serving children, from Varna and the region around the programme documents of BPA and to develop regional activities, based on its causes. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Valeriya Kaleva, the head of the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Genetics at MU-Varna was elected President of Varna College of BPA.
Varna college of BPA unites more than 100 pediatricians, family physicians, geneticists and pediatric surgeons from Children's Diagnostic and Counseling Centres, private practices, outpatient individual practices, pediatric clinics and departments in Varna and the region. They intend to meet regularly in order to share experiences, solve problems and discuss rare cases of their practice. Specialists from other fields - radiologists, microbiologists, public health professionals and others will be invited to these meetings, as well. Special meetings and lectures open to the public, patient and parent organizations will be organized.
The union of Varna College of Pediatricians aims to create a favourable opportunity for communication between the professionals in this field, which will lead to increased overall qualification and hence prompt provision of patients with the best medical care. The organization plans to get committed to the implementation of local campaigns for prevention and early diagnosis of various diseases, such as anemia, obesity, rare diseases, congenital anomalies, etc.


This year the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Genetics at Medical University - Varna celebrates its 50th anniversary. Open Days will be organized in the specialized Clinics in Pediatrics at "St. Marina" University Hospital in Varna for three consecutive days (6th -8th November). Citizens and guests of the city of Varna will be able to get acquainted with the current achievements of the pediatric practice and science and discuss health topics of interest to them with a variety of children's specialists. The celebrations will end with the holding of a Jubilee Scientific Conference with the participation of pediatricians from Varna and the entire country on 9th November.
