On the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), 19th November, Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) - Veliko Tarnovo, in partnership with the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, the Affiliate of Veliko Tarnovo at Medical University - Varna and the Student Club "Live" have organized a campaign entitled "Become an EX Smoker", part of the national campaign to stop smoking, under the slogan "EX Smoker BG".
The campaign "Become an EX Smoker" was held on 12 November 2015 in "Marno pole" Park, including individual consultations for giving up smoking, pulmonary function testing of smokers and distribution of information and educational materials.
These initiatives take place within the European campaign "Ex-Smokers Are Unstoppable" , which aims to encourage European citizens to give up smoking, focusing not only on the serious health consequences due to this bad habit, but also on the benefits of giving it up. They also highlight the inspiring achievements of ex-smokers and offer practical advice on quitting smoking. So far, almost 40 000 men and women across Europe have actively sought support in their struggle with tobacco through registration in the main instrument of the campaign - iCoach (www.exsmokers.eu) – a digital platform for health advice, available in the 23 official EU languages, helping smokers to stop smoking, following their own rhythm.
