Six SWOT analyses of the current syllabi in the specialty of pharmacy were presented and discussed in detail at the working meeting entitled "Undertaking measures for updating syllabi for Master pharmacists" which took place on 24th and 25th January 2014 at the Medical University of Varna. The meeting was held within Project BG051PO001-3.1.07-0046 "Updating and approbation of curricula and syllabi of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Varnain accordance with the needs of the pharmaceutical business and the requirements of the labour market".
Beside the strengths and weaknesses in the teaching curricula and syllabi in the specialty of pharmacy, a multidisciplinary team of experts was formed within the project,consisting of representatives of the Bulgarian pharmaceutical practice and members of the academic staff of the Faculty of Pharmacy, which got acquainted with the results from two questionnaire studies with employers and Master pharmacists jointly with the Bulgarian Union of Pharmacists.
The two questionnaires and the presented SWOT analyses will be used for the working out of a summarizing report aiming at adapting the curriculum in the specialty of pharmacy, updating the syllabi in 20 obligatory subjects and developing new syllabi in at least 2 elective disciplines. The next working meeting on the project will be held on 22nd and 23rd February 2014.
