Prof. Aleksandar Timurovich
Maryanovich, D.Sc., Head of the Department of Normal Physiology at the
North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov in St.
Petersburg, was a guest lecturer in MU-Varna, under the agreement for academic
cooperation between Medical University - Varna and the Russian University. At
the invitation of Prof. Zlatislav Stoyanov, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at MU-Varna,
Prof. Maryanovich delivered a lecture module on Physiology for Bulgarian and international
students at MU-Varna from 27th to 31st October 2019.
During his visit, Prof.
Maryanovich presented the following lectures in front of the students at
MU-Varna: “Haematocephalic Barrier - Physiological, Pathophysiological and Clinical
Aspects. Other Histohaematic Barriers” and “The Brain Reward System as a Basis
for Addictions (Opioid, Endocannabinoid, Serotonergic, and Other Brain Systems
as a Basis for the Development of Drug Dependence and Addictions)”.
