The third module of the course on History of Medicine was held on 7th and 8th April at MU-Varna.
The subject of History of Medicine has already become a mandatory part of the training of students at MU-Varna, and the implementation of a series of training modules on this subject has helped University lecturers and researchers to enhance their qualification and learn about innovations in the medical studies in this field.
Academician Prof. Dr. Miladin Apostolov - Vice-Chairman of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts was the guest lecturer at the event. During his visit to the University he graciously submitted to the Library of MU-Varna an original edition, written by the patron of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov.
This gift is an original separately printed edition of a published report by Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov. The report is entitled "Evolution de la medicine en Bulgarie", ("Evolution of Medicine in Bulgaria"), and it was presented in Bucharest, Romania on 12.09.1932. It consists of notes and research papers from the 9th International Congress on the History of Medicine.
"The historical development of medical knowledge and practice is not sufficiently introduced in many of our Universities, which hinders the modern and complete formation of specialists", said Acad. Miladinov to the audience.
The library of MU-Varna has had a separate collection "History of Medicine" for years, and it continuously increases its wealth of old editions.
Medical University - Varna expressed special gratitude to Acad. Miladinov for the valuable gift enriching the historical collection of the University.
