Students from MU-Varna Impressed Chef Petrov with Their Culinary Skills

Entertainments at Medical University - Varna never end even when the students are at the threshold of the examination session! Energized by the weather, which is getting warmer and warmer, lecturers and students from different countries gathered together to celebrate the European Maritime Day at Port Varna, where they  excelled in  their culinary skills in one of the most labour-intensive disciplines - Marine Cuisine.

The event was a part of the festival programme Climate, Sea and Health, organized by the Faculty of Public Health, and the main focus was Seafood - a Gift for Health.

The culinary fiesta was held under the slogan Schrödinger's Fish. Approximately 50 students - cooks from the English and Bulgarian Training Programmes took part in the competition, mixing a variety of seafood, which was a top secret for them till the beginning of the event. Sea bass, sea bream and prawns - these were just few of the delicacies that inspired the participants in the preparation of their virtuoso dishes.

The jury, comprising lecturers, students and the Chef of the chain of Captain Cook Seafood Restaurants - Chef Petrov, who arrived from Sofia especially for the event, evaluated the dishes under strict control and according to a multilayer evaluation system. However, they eventually concluded that the dishes of the students had gone beyond their wildest expectations and all of them deserved prizes. Chef Petrov himself was extremely impressed with the creativity and the balance of dishes, and he even asked the participants for a couple of recipes. The event went on with a great deal of humour and high spirits, and finally the whole audience got the opportunity to enjoy the delicious dishes of the participants.
