More than 180 health care professionals took
part in the continuing education course in Emergency Medical Care - History,
Approaches and Activities, which was held on 21st October 2017 at
First Auditorium of Medical University - Varna. Course organizer was the
Regional College of the Bulgarian Association of Health Care Professionals.
The participants were welcomed by Rayna
Boyadzhieva - Chair of the Regional College of the Bulgarian Association of
Health Care Professionals (BAHCP) and Dr. Maya Rasheva - Director of Emergency
Medical Care Centre (EMCC) - Varna.
Course lecturers were Prof. Dr. Stoyan Milanov
- National Emergency Medical Care Consultant, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lora Georgieva
and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitar Stavrev from the Faculty of Public Health and Dr.
Desislava Katelieva - Chair of the National Association of Emergency Medical Care
Professionals.
In July 2017, under the initiative of the Medical
University, the first Varna Summer School of Emergency Aid for 5th and 6th year
of study students was held. Dr. Rasheva underlined the fact that after the end
of the practical module of the course, the interest of intern-doctors to be trained
together with the mobile emergency teams still continues. She pointed out that the
most remarkable consequence of the Summer School was that seven of the
participants had already chosen to work in EMCC, which was a valuable
contribution, taking into consideration the serious staff shortage in the
system.
