Medical university – Varna paid respect to the Apostle’s memory Published 02/19/2014 Page Content Yesterday we marked 141st anniversary from the death of the Apostle of Bulgarian freedom – Vasil Levski. During the ceremony for paying the Apostle last respect at his monument in the Sea Gardens, the professor from the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology Assoc. Prof. Radko Radev, the President of the Students’ Union Boris Andonov and students from the Medical University laid a wreath of flowers. Hundreds of Varna citizens honoured the personality and the deeds of the Apostle. Mayor Ivan Portnih, members of the City Council, representatives of patriotic organisations and numerous pupils and citizens took part in the ceremony in the Sea Gardens. A liturgy to the memory of the Apostle was served by priests of Varna and Velikopreslav bishopry. Military honours were paid by representatives of the Naval forces of the Republic of Bulgaria. In the official speech, the intransient importance of Levski’s deeds was pointed out for the development of the liberation movement of the Bulgarian people and the national memory.
