Two professors from Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna made presentations during the International School of Oncology. It was held between 25th and 27th October 2013 in the "Riu Pravets" Complex. The event was dedicated to the modern trends in the diagnostics and treatment of brain tumors.
Assoc. Prof. I. Dimitrov from Varna Medical University presented the topic of the neurological aspects of the diagnosis and the differential diagnosis in CNS neoplasms and Dr. R. Georgiev focused on the MRI techniques for determining the stage and the differentiation of the glyomas. The scientific program of the forum received the maximum accreditation mark of the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. Six of the lecturers were among of the most reputed scientists in neurooncology in Europe and worldwide. They presented the topics on brain tumor epidemiology, classification, application of the molecular biology of primary tumors in target-oriented therapy, diagnosis, modern aspects and expectations from immunotherapy in primary and metastatic brain tumors.
One of the Co-chairs of the Organizing Committee of the School was Prof. Dr. N. Deleva who is President of the Bulgarian Association of Neurooncology.
