Fourth and fifth year students of the elective course in Marine Medicine "have penetrated" successfully in the Port of NY. It happened during their practical training at the special training simulation facilities, used for training of future sea captains at Nicola Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna.
Besides being able to steer a virtual ship in the port of New York, the students of Marine Medicine experienced different situations and aspects of the work of senior marine specialists through marine engine simulators, the communication system, radio and satellite links, the motion simulator in marine canals and routes.
At the end of the training there was a discussion with the Commandant of the Naval Academy Prof. Boyan Mednikarov, who has rendered assistance and actively participated in the training process of students, since the establishment of the subject in 2008, launched for the first time at Medical University - Varna. During the talk the importance of Medicine in maritime affairs was discussed, as well as some ideas for future partnership between the two higher schools.
