Future Medics from Moscow Have Begun a Summer Internship at MU-Varna

An orientation meeting for the international summer internship of the students from I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University was held today, 10th July 2017.

Within two weeks Russian interns will be trained at the University and clinical facilities, under the direct supervision of leading lecturers in their respective fields. The internship in Internal Diseases and Surgery will be held at one of the most high-tech hospitals in Bulgaria - UMHAT "St. Marina", under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irina Ivanova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasil Bozhkov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anton Tonev. For the first time the future medics from Russia will also be trained at SHOGAT "Prof. Dr. D. Stamatov " - Varna, and their supervisor will be Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Kovachev. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Papanchev and Ch. Assist. Dr. Karen Dzhabalyan will conduct the internship of the dental practitioners, and Assoc. Prof. Pharm. Ilia Zhelev – the internship in Pharmacy.


The Moscow students were welcomed by the Vice Rector for International Cooperation, Accreditation and Quality - Prof. Todorka Kostadinova, the head of International Cooperation Department - Dr. Aneta Dokova, and the summer internship coordinator at MU-Varna - Ms. Siyana Smoletsova .

The summer internship has been held for the seventh consecutive year, under a bilateral academic cooperation agreement with I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. The programme was launched in 2011 with 10 students in Medicine and Dental Medicine, and this year the interns are 25 from the Faculties of Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy.

A group of students in the same majors from MU-Varna are going to have a two-week summer internship at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University from 17th July 2017.

With each passing year, the scope of cooperation between the two universities has been expanding. In addition to the traditional summer internships, participations at scientific forums and conferences have already been organiesed, scientific and practical exchange, opportunities for exchange of teaching materials and guest lecturers have been discussed. Just a few days ago two students from Medical University-Varna completed a one-week summer school in Moscow in the field of Urological Oncology, Urogenital and Reconstructive Surgery. Organizers of the training module were Cambridge University and I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
