A team of authors from the Department of Economics and Health Management at the Faculty of Public Health, including Prof. Antoniya Dimova, Assoc. Prof. Mariya Rohova, Prof. Stefka Koeva, Assoc. Prof. Elka Atanasova, Assoc. Prof. Lyubomira Koeva and Prof. Todorka Kostadinova, has received a Certificate of Excellence in the field of Social Sciences for 2019 for the edition: "Bulgaria: Health systems review. Health Systems in Transition", 2018. The book is a part of the series of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies – "Health Systems in Transition"
The survey presents an up-to-date analysis and evaluation of the management, financing, provision of healthcare services and the functioning of the healthcare system in Bulgaria in terms of quality, efficiency, equality and accessibility in healthcare.
The survey is focused on the healthcare system in its entirety, closely related to the political and decision-making process in healthcare. The scientific work provides an in-depth review, analysis and scientific commentary on the healthcare reforms carried out in the recent years (2012 - 2018), and it outlines the main challenges and problems in this field.
