The future medics won
5 gold medals out of 11 at the Swimming Tournament of the 16th Varna Universiade, which took place on 18 April, at Primorski Swimming Complex. 26 Bulgarian and international students from Medical University - Varna competed with their colleagues in 4 disciplines: butterfly, freestyle, breaststroke and 5x50 m freestyle relay.
The students from MU-Varna won
the first three places in 50 m butterfly women:
- Simona Borisova - Medical Cosmetics, 3 course - with a time of 34.07
- Alina Shigri - Medicine, English-language training, 2 course
- Katerina Oylenshtayn - Medicine, English-language training, 2 course
The student in Medical Cosmetics Simona Borisova also won
the gold medal in 50m freestyle, with a time of 31.64.
Nora Pendov, a first-year student in Medicine, English-language training, won two first places and
two gold medals -
50 m backstroke crawl and 50 m breaststroke. She also
improved two tournament records in these disciplines (50 m backstroke crawl with a time of 37.04 seconds - 0.03 seconds faster than the record of the year 2010, and 50 m breaststroke with a time of 40.45 seconds - 1.5 seconds faster!).
The team of MU-Varna
won the first place in 5x50 m freestyle relay (Krastev, Borisov, Popov, Pendov, Brihart). Kristiyan Krastev won for MU-Varna two second places - 50 m butterfly and 50m freestyle. Velina Bogdanova won second place freestyle and third place backstroke crawl.
Our basketball team, the host of the Basketball Tournament,
won their first game against the team of the Naval Academy with 67:59.
Today, at 17:30 we are competing against Varna Free University. On the following two days we host the games against the Technical University (21.04., at 17:30) and the University of Economics (22.04., at 17: 30).
