Medical University - Varna hosts a scientific and practical forum "Varna Neuro-Otology Days" on 23rd and 24th April, which is to be held
for the first time in Bulgaria, under the auspices of the European Academy of
Otology and Neuro-Otology (EAONO). The president of the European Academy Prof.
Dr. O. Nuri Özgirgin and eminent Bulgarian scientists are going to deliver
lectures, dealing with the issues in the field of Neuro-Otology and Neuro-Ophthalmology. The scientific and practical forum is intended
for medical specialists - otorhinolaryngologists, neurologists,
ophthalmologists, as well as postgraduates, specializing in Otorhinolaryngology
and Ophthalmology, Neurology and undergraduate students.
The establishment of a new association "Black
Sea Otology and Neuro-Otology International Club" will be brought forward
for discussion at the forum. It will be the successor of “Varna Association for
Prevention of Hearing Loss in Newborns”, preserving its activities related to
free screening in newborns. The new association will be set up along the lines
of EAONO. Its main objective will be to strengthen the contacts and cooperation
among doctors-otologists in the Black Sea countries, and later on to attract
doctors from Central Asia.
Prof. Nuri Özgirgin is going to deliver a lecture on Modern Concepts in Diagnosis and Treatment of Vestibular Disorders of Otological Character. Prof. Ozgirgin's specialization and practice are in the field of otological and neuro-otological surgery, rhinology and functional endoscopic sinus surgery. He has been a president of the European Academy of Otology and Neuro-Otology since 2013, following the traditions of his predecessors, but also implementing plenty of innovative ideas.
Varna Neuro-Otology Days are to be held at the Second Auditorium of MU-Varna.
