In the period 9-12
May 2019, the 18th International Congress of Medical Sciences for students and
young doctors took place. This year the congress was entitled "On the Edge
of Innovation". It has been organized for 17 years and each year hosts more than
500 participants from different countries. It is organized by the Association
of Medical Students in Bulgaria-Sofia and held at the Medical University of
Sofia.
The congress allows
students and young doctors to present their research work in a set of poster and
oral presentations in “Preclinic”, “Therapy”,
“Surgery” and “Public health” sessions. In the “Public
health” poster session the first and
the third prize were won by Krassimira Zaykova, a second-year
student at the Medical Faculty of MU-Varna, and Tsvetelina Stefanova, a fifth-year
student at the Faculty of
Pharmacy of MU-Varna. The two
prestigious awards of the congress are far from being the only ones. Among the
distinguished participants were Nikolay Kalvachev - second place in oral session “Surgery”, Irena
Mircheva, third place in poster session “Surgery”, Gabriela Panayotova and
Magdalena Bliznakova, third place in poster session “Therapy”.
The prizes in the “Public health” poster session
are another proof that Medical University of Varna prepares young professionals
who, in addition to being
excellent students, also have a focus on medical science
and public health topics.
We wish success to
the rewarded students in their next ventures!
