Videos with Synchronized Text Is One
of the Many Advantages of Alexander Street Press
The Library
of MU-Varna hosted yesterday a training workshop on Alexander Street Press data
bases. Its resources have been accessed 1200+ times (partially or in-full) only
within the last month of free trial access available at MU-Varna. This was
revealed by Krassimira Angelova, the Alexander Street Press representative. The
ASP products are user friendly and flexible, not only academically oriented but
extremely helpful for professional English learning altogether. Theory and
practice are visualized in a mix-media: each video is synchronized with text
which can be downloaded for itself. This proved to be exceptionally favored in
nursing training and education for example.
Dental
Education in Video, Rehabilitation Therapy, Medical Imaging in Video and
Nursing Education in Video happened to be the most popular among Varna Medical
University users.
Alexander
Street Press data bases are exceedingly flexible: each video can be cut in
segments and enriched additionally with lecturer’s annotations; one might use
the ‘Send to Mobile’ option to direct a particular video file to a personal
mobile for the next 48 hrs.; users are allowed to create tailored play-lists, which can be
enriched with outside sources as well.
Students and
lecturers from the departments of neurology, physiotherapy and rehabilitation,
English learning etc. took part in the workshop and expressed interest in the
Alexander Street Press data bases and its future availability.
The free
access trial is available until March 11, 2016. You can access the database
through this
link or the Library website.
