Two-Day Course on History of Medicine Is to Be Held at MU-Varna

A course on History of Medicine is to be held on 7th and 8th April 2017 at MU-Varna. The course starts with an official opening at 9:00 am, on 7th April, at the meeting room of MU-Varna. The lecturers will present interesting topics, dealing with “Medical Knowledge of Thracians and Proto-Bulgarians” and “Medical and Anthropological Expertise of Bone Remains of the Early Medieval Necropoles in the Region of Varna and Devnya”, in order to elaborate further on the modern character of medical museums with a topic focusing on “Medical Museums and Medical and Health Education - History and Modern Tendencies”. Prof. Dr. Miladin Apostolov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Marinov, Prof. Dr. Pavel Dimov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitar Tomov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevyana Feschieva will be among the lecturers.

During the second day of the course (08.04) special emphasis will be put on “Prominent Representatives of Varna Medical Society with Contribution to Bulgarian Medicine and Healthcare”, which will take place at Panorama 2 Hall, fl.11, at RHI (HEI) - Varna. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dobrin Paskalev will deliver a lecture on “Evolution of Diagnostic Methods in Medicine in 18-19 Century”.

"Approaches to Investigating Recent History of Medicine and Health Care in Bulgaria" will be the priority topics of the discussion with moderators Prof. Dr. Miladin Apostolov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevyana Feschieva.

The two-day course will end with an autobiographical film – “Prof. Paraskev Stoyanov - Life and Deeds”.
