Medical University-Varna is the first academic institution visited by the Israeli Ambassador
to Bulgaria H.E. Iritis Lillian. This is her first visit to Varna from the
beginning of her term of office. The Israeli Ambassador was accompanied by Ms.
Iman Amasha, Deputy Chief of Mission, Prof. Igor Resnick and the Honorary
Consul of Israel to Bulgaria Prof. Dr. Krassimir Metodiev.Hosts of the meeting
were the Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Krasimir
Ivanov and the academic management of the University. The Rector
made a short presentation about the University as a leading and highly technological educational institution, which provides training for students from more than 40 countries worldwide. The guests visited the University Library, equipped with electronic reading rooms and providing access to
the world's best information databases, as well as the Student Council, where they talked with the team members.
By an old Bulgarian tradition, students dressed in national
costumes welcomed the guests with bread and salt in front of Second Auditorium,
where the Israeli Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Iritis Lillian spoke about her
first meeting with the Bulgarian medicine, the Israeli experience, the cooperation,
new technology and challenges facing Europe and the world today. “Precisely multiculturalism is the key to success of Israel
as a state”, she said and advised the students: "Listen to the different
one! Today you are not only studying medicine, but you are also communicating
with each other. Be a part of "Tikkun Olam" - those who will repair

spoke about the longstanding academic relations,
the exchange of
doctors, postgraduate and
undergraduate students. He introduced the joint
projects between
the
University
Hospitals "St.
Marina" - Varna, "Sheba" - Tel Aviv and "Hadassa" -
Jerusalem. The long-term and large scale cooperation project in the field of
Bone
Marrow
Transplantation was
presented by Prof. Igor Resnick, who is a guest professor
at MU-Varna and
a chief coordinator
of the project.
