Medical University-Varna is the first academic institution visited by the Israeli Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Iritis Lillian. This is her first visit to Varna from the beginning of her term of office. The Israeli Ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Iman Amasha, Deputy Chief of Mission, Prof. Igor Resnick and the Honorary Consul of Israel to Bulgaria Prof. Dr. Krassimir Metodiev.

Hosts of the meeting were the Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov and the academic management of the University. The Rector made a short presentation about the University as a leading and highly technological educational institution, which provides training for students from more than 40 countries worldwide. The guests visited the University Library, equipped with electronic reading rooms and providing access to the world's best information databases, as well as the Student Council, where they talked with the team members.

By an old Bulgarian tradition, students dressed in national costumes welcomed the guests with bread and salt in front of Second Auditorium, where the Israeli Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Iritis Lillian spoke about her first meeting with the Bulgarian medicine, the Israeli experience, the cooperation, new technology and challenges facing Europe and the world today. “Precisely multiculturalism is the key to success of Israel as a state”, she said and advised the students: "Listen to the different one! Today you are not only studying medicine, but you are also communicating with each other. Be a part of "Tikkun Olam" - those who will repair the world."

The Honorary Consul of Israel to Bulgaria Prof. Dr. Krassimir Metodiev spoke about the longstanding academic relations, the exchange of doctors, postgraduate and undergraduate students. He introduced the joint projects between the University Hospitals "St. Marina" - Varna, "Sheba" - Tel Aviv and "Hadassa" - Jerusalem. The long-term and large scale cooperation project in the field of Bone Marrow Transplantation was presented by Prof. Igor Resnick, who is a guest professor at MU-Varna and a chief coordinator of the project.
