Students and Young Doctors from Bulgaria and Abroad Presented Their Scientific Developments at BSYSB 2016


T​he fourth edition of the Black Sea Symposium of Young Scientists in Biomedicine (BSYSB), which was organized by Medical University "Prof. Dr. P. Stoyanov"- Varna, the Student Council, the associations of students in medicine, dental medicine and pharmacy, ended on 10th April 2016.

The Symposium, which has been organized every year since 2012, brings together at MU-Varna students and young doctors from Bulgaria and abroad. This year's edition welcomed about 350 participants. There they presented their scientific developments and exchanged ideas. Their presentations were separated into 14 sessions according to the topics and were evaluated by a scientific jury. The winners in the individual sessions received awards at the closing ceremony.

Seven workshops were organized for the participants at BSYSB: dental, pharmaceutical, workshops in immunofluorescence, ultrasound, RNA isolation, psychiatry and laparoscopic surgery.

The participants at the Congress had the opportunity to attend the lectures of the guest lecturers Dr. Jan Polak on the topic of "Is there a casual link between obstructive sleep apnea and type II diabetes", Prof. Ronald Bleys on "The organization and dynamics of vascular innervation", and Prof. Ulrich Gross on "The enigma of the interface".

Since its establishment BSYSB has continuously built on its previous achievements, giving rise to high expectations regarding its future editions.
