The 10th National Congress of Otorhinolaryngology with international participation was held on 2 - 4 October 2015, at International Hotel, Golden Sands. More than 200 otorhinolaryngologists across the country attended the Congress. Guest lecturers were some of the most renowned world otosurgeons, who have introduced cochlear implantation, such as Prof. Jan Helms, Tübingen, Prof. Kosyakov, Moscow, Prof. Cem Uzun, Edirne, Dr. Mehdi Ahmadi - rhinoplasty specialist, Tehran, Prof. Ibrahim Hizalan, Bursa, Prof. Taier Karcıoğlu, Istanbul, Prof. Kalgalar Batman, Istanbul. The forum was opened by the District Governor of Varna Mr. Stoyan Pasev.
The scientific programme was dedicated to innovations and perspectives in the field of regeneration of auditory nerve, restoration of auditory chain, aesthetic surgery of the nose, cochlear implantation, head and neck cancer treatment, interdisciplinary approach in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and many others.
Prof. Benchev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery delivered a summary report, in which he emphasized the exceptional contribution of Varna Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" to conducting international forums and the brilliant cooperation between the Society and the University. He underlined that by October 2015 several scientific events had been held with the otorhinolaryngologists from MU-Varna, including the First Symposium on Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring with international participation, Varna Otoneurological Days with the participation of the President of the European Academy of Otology and Neurotology Nuri Özgirgin, a Rhinoplasty Course at St. Marina University Hospital in Varna and a Course on Oral Applicators for Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring, conducted by Dr. Susanne Schwarting, at the Faculty of Dental Medicine.
Representatives of MU-Varna were included in the committees of the Society: Assoc. Prof. P. Nedev, Assoc. Prof. N. Sapundzhiev, Assoc. Prof. M. Milkov. Assoc. Prof. M. Milkov was unanimously elected Secretary General of the Bulgarian Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery after being proposed by the Chairman of the Society Prof. Benchev. The dates of the next Varna Otoneurological Days and the Second Symposium on Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring were specified. International Bulletin of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, issued in Varna, was designated as a national journal of the Society.
