Pediatric Specialists Are Discussing the Problems of Reflux in Babies in Varna

​​​​​​A workshop, entitled "GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) in Children – Multifaceted Issues" is to be held on 29 April 2015, at 7:00 pm, at Golden Tulip Hotel Varna. The event is organized by the newly established Bulgarian Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in Varna. The meeting aims to bring together general practitioners with pediatric practices, pediatricians, neonatologists, ENT doctors in order to discuss the different points of view on the reflux in babies aged 0 to a year and a half, a disease whose diagnosis often turns out to be rather difficult.

The event is to be attended by the pediatric surgeon Prof. Dr. Ognyan Brankov from the Clinic of Pediatric Surgery at Tokuda Hospital - Sofia, the gastroenterologist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miglena Georgieva from the Second Pediatric Clinic at St. Marina University Hospital-Varna, the otolaryngologist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Nedev from the Clinic of ENT  at St. Marina University Hospital-Varna, Dr. Krasimira Petkova and Dr. Nia Rasheva also from the Second Pediatric Clinic at St. Marina University Hospital.

The Bulgarian Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, with headquarters - the city of Varna, was established in December 2014. The Society, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miglena Georgieva, PhD and Deputy Chairperson Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruzha Pancheva, PhD, was officially registered at the beginning of March this year. Its members are doctors from the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Genetics and the Department of Hygiene at Medical University - Varna, specialists from the Second Pediatric Clinic at St. Marina University Hospital-Varna and the Pediatric Surgery at St. Anna University Hospital in Varna, as well as a number of specialists outside the country.

The aim of the Society is to support the dissemination of knowledge and experience in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, to stimulate the research in this area and to cooperate actively for the distribution of magazines, web sites, manuals and information materials of the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
