Assoc. Prof. Dr. Branimir Kanazirev,
Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Medicine and Dr. Lilyana
Mircheva from the Clinic of Cardiology at the Department of Internal Medicine
at MU-Varna and St. Marina University Hospital have received the first in
Bulgaria Certificates of Advanced Studies in Heart Failure after a two-year
postgraduate course. The training was conducted in
Zurich, Switzerland, between January 2014-October 2015, by the European Society
of Cardiology, in cooperation with the University of Zurich and the University
Hospital in Zurich.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanazirev and Dr.
Mircheva were selected for course participation by the European Heart Failure
Association in view of their participation at the Congresses on Heart Failure
of the European Society of Cardiology.
Heart failure is expected to become the new epidemic of the 21st century and one of the leading causes of hospitalization in patients over 65 years of age. Heart failure patients need well-trained cardiologists, highly competent in clinical medicine and pharmacotherapy, profoundly knowledgeable about care, invasive procedures and treatment of heart failure.
