The President of the Royal College of Midwives in the UK Visited the Affiliate of MU-Varna in Veliko Tarnovo
​"You have chosen one of the most wonderful occupations in the world. You will bring changes to midwifery in Bulgaria and hopefully in the whole world "- thus Prof. Lesley Page, president of the Royal College of Midwives in the UK, addressed the future midwives.


Prof. Lesley Page is in Bulgaria at the invitation of the Alliance of Bulgarian Midwives, which has organized Midwife Academy in Veliko Tarnovo for the fourth consecutive year. During the conference Prof. Page will deliver a lecture on "Obstetric Care - the Best on a Global Scale."


"The number of caesarean-section births has increased sharply worldwide, and this is a major problem for our society. The role of a midwife is to try to change this trend and contribute to the increase of the number of natural childbirths" - said Lesley Page to the students and lecturers at the Affiliate of MU-Varna in Veliko Tarnovo. "A midwife
plays a key role in every single life. If babies were born in a natural way, I
think we would contribute to the development of a better society," she
said.
