The government has appointed Multi-Profile
Hospital for Active Treatment "St. Marina" EAD as a University Hospital
for the duration of its new accreditation assessment. Just a few days ago it
received "Excellent 6" for the following five-year term, pursuant to
an Order by the Minister of Health Mr. Kiril Ananiev.
So far the hospital has been empowered to function
as a training hospital and a major base for the theoretical, clinical and
practical training of undergraduate, post-graduate and PhD students at the Medical
University. The excellent assessment has confirmed the high level of the educational
and medical activities and also has provided new opportunities for the
development of the medical establishment.
Just a month ago, MU - Varna announced its
intention to acquire "St. Marina" and to become the first medical
university in Bulgaria with its own hospital. According to the Health Minister Mr.
Kiril Ananiev, if both sides have expressed a desire, there are no obstacles for
the deal to take place. And if the scheme turns out to be profitable, it can be
applied to other higher education institutions.
