An academic lecture entitled: Is "simple obesity" really simple? is going to be delivered by Prof. Dr. Violeta Iotova, a professor at the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Genetics and Head of the Multi-profile Specialized Pediatric Hospital in the University Hospital "St. Marina" – Varna. The lecture will be held at 17.00 on February 25th 2014 in Auditorium "A" in the University Hospital "St. Marina" – Varna.
Prof. Iotova's lecture will be dedicated to the main topic of her scientific interests for the last 5 years – obesity in all its aspects. The lecture includes the cases with prospective risk morbidity, syndrome obesity and the recently discussed diabetes "type 2" in children. Among the questions which will be discussed are: Is there diabetes "type 2" in Europe and in Bulgaria, how is it diagnosed and what is its differential diagnosis as well as can we expect the cases with patients who suffer from diabetes "type 2" to increase in future. Prof. Iotova will draw special attention to obesity prevention and in this context the results from the project ToyBox will be presented.
The lecture will be delivered in English language. All students, teachers, interns, residents, specialists, curious citizens and patients who are interested in the obesity topic are invited.
