Training and Research Sector (TRS) of Nephrology, Dialysis and Toxicology provides training for students of Medicine in the discipline Nephrology. It also provides training in the elective discipline Artificial Organs, headed by Prof. Dr. Valentin Ikonomov.
Research activities comprise the following areas:
- studies with different extracorporeal purification methods in Nephrology and in other clinical disciplines (Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology);
- studies on biological compatibility of different materials used in Medicine;
- studies on kidney transplants from living donors;
- study on circulating immune substances in the blood;
- History of Medicine.
Present head of TRS Nephrology, Dialysis and Toxicology is Assoc. prof. Dr. Dobrin Paskalev.
