The Department provides training in the discipline Internal Medicine, divided into 2 parts:

  • Part One comprises the disciplines Cardiology, Rheumatology, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergology. It is studied during 7th and 8th semester by students of Medicine and ends with an exam after the end of 8th semester.
  • Part Two comprises the disciplines Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Toxicology and Hematology. It is studied during 9th and 10th semester by students of Medicine and ends with an exam after the end of tenth semester.
 The Department conducts State Traineeship, lasting 90 days, for 6th course students of Medicine in the discipline Internal Medicine, which ends with a State Examination. Specializations in Cardiology, Rheumatology, Pulmonary Diseases, Allergology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Hematology and Internal Medicine are implemented as well.

The elective discipline Artificial Organs is also included in the training of students of Medicine.

The training of students of Medicine in the discipline Internal Medicine follows the algorithm of the textbook Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine. In addition, all innovations, stemming from national consensus documents and European behavior recommendations in the relevant disease units are incorporated in the training process in due time.
