International Nurses Day - 2016The Medical University of Varna celebrated the International Nurses Day – May 12th on May 11th 2016. The Department of Nursing Care organized an official ceremony which was held in Auditorium “Prof. Dr. G. Kaprelyan” at the Regional Health Inspectorate. Students from the specialties “Nurse” and “Midwife” at MU-Varna shared opinion on the noble professions they have chosen. Prof. Albena Kerekovska, MD, PhD, Vice-Rector for Students’ Affairs presented a greeting address by the Rector of the Medical University of Varna – Prof. Krasimir Ivanov, MD, PhD, DSc. Assoc. Prof. Emanuela Mutafova, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Prof. Dimitrichka Bliznakova, MD, PhD - Director of the Medical College, Rayna Boyadzhieva, President of the Regional College of the Bulgarian Association of Health Professionals in Nursing congratulated the students. Honorary diplomas on the name of Florence Nightingale were awarded to Assist. Prof. Tamara Tsvetkova, PhD in Nursing for her “scientific contribution to nursing”, Darina Yordanova – Director of Child Care Centre “Shturche” and Yordanka Todorova – senior midwife at maternity ward at Specialized Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology – Varna for “practical contribution to nursing”, and Silviya Uzun – a fourth-year student in the specialty “Nurse”, category “Devoted Student in Training and Practical Activities”. This year the Faculty of Public Health announced а competition for posters or essays entitled “My Profession” in which 26 students from the specialties “Midwife” and “Nurse” took part. Assoc. Prof. Silviya Borisova – Head of the Department of Nursing Care awarded certificates to the winners in the competition.
