The organizers of the charitable races under the initiative "Donate
Your Time to 5kmrun" handed a symbolic cheque to the doctors of the First
Pediatric Clinic at University Hospital "St. Marina" in Varna. The
funds raised during the campaign will be used for the purchase of a system for
continuous insulin therapy in critically ill patients with blood glucose
disorder for the Varna University Hospital "St. Marina".
Тhis unique medical equipment will allow the treatment
of children suffering from severe hyperinsulinemia, children newly diagnosed
with diabetes and severe ketoacidosis, operated, traumatized, long term ventilated
children, as well as cases of prolonged parenteral nutrition.
The noble initiative involved hundreds of people in the
cities of Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Burgas, who raised a total amount of 14 400
BGN. Prof. Dr. Dimitrichka Bliznakova received the donation and thanked the
participants and the organizers on behalf of the whole team of University
Hospital "St. Marina" and the head of the First Pediatric Clinic
Prof. Dr. Violeta Yotova.
5kmrun is a national organization that aims at bringing
people together at national level to fund greater and more significant causes.
