The Second National Children's Diabetic Camp "Touch the Rainbow" Is Underway

An official opening launched the second National Children's Diabetic Camp "Touch the Rainbow", organised with the support of Medical University - Varna and University Hospital "St. Marina” - Varna. The event, which will take place at “Yuri Gagarin” Education and Training Centre in SHC “Kamchia”, brought together plenty of friends and guests, truly committed to the cause.

Official guests at the opening were the Deputy Mayor of Varna Mr. Kosta Bazitov, the Executive Director of University Hospital "St. Marina” Prof. Dr. Valentin Ignatov, the Assistant Rector of MU - Varna Eng. Deyan Grancharov, famous sportsmen - Daniel Borimirov, Darin Velikov, Titi Papazov, Simona Peicheva, coaches from FC “Levski” and BC “Black Sea”, as well as singers and musicians. Fifty-six children and young people with diabetes mellitus from the whole country will enjoy the summer camp, and meanwhile a team of medical doctors, psychologists, pedagogues and parents will take care of them. And the young people will have great fun with plenty of music and games.

The camp was opened by Dr. Denislava Angelova, the founder of “Touch the Rainbow” Association, who congratulated all guests and expressed her hope that the camp would be popular and attractive to children in the future too.

Prof. Ignatov addressed the participants with the words, “The aim of the Association is to help children in this condition, because this is a condition, not a disease, not only during this camp, but in the future as well. Together we can overcome it! And I have a request to all of you, children - let us stop talking about diseases, let us feast our eyes on the warm sea, fine sand and the upcoming kids’ pranks! I wish everyone a magnificent holiday!”

The awesome surprise for the children came from the attractive performers Rudi, Duli, Muden & Kukusheff, who invited them to take part in their last video.

Besides the variety of games and entertainment, the camp programme for the next few days includes morning training with FC “Levski” on 17th August and water rescue training with the Bulgarian Red Cross on 18th August.
