Israeli and Norwegian Specialists Are Going to Examine Patients with Hematologic Malignancies for Free

Free examinations of Bulgarian patients with documented or suspected hematologic malignancies are to be performed on 11 and 12 May, at the Clinic of Hematology, at St. Marina University Hospital in Varna. Prof. Igor Resnick from Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel and Prof. Gunnar Kvalheim from Radium Hospital, Oslo University Hospital, Norway, together with their Varna colleagues from St. Marina University Hospital are going to perform the examinations.

Patients need to enrol for the examination in advance, providing complete medical records for their disease, no later than 7 May, at the Clinic of Hematology in the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre at Varna University Hospital (from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm on workdays).


Prof. Gunnar Kvalheim is a medical oncologist-immunotherapeutic and head of the Department of Cellular Therapy at Radium University Hospital in Oslo. He has gained a great international reputation as a specialist in cancer immunotherapy and the use of stem cells. He was General Secretary of the International Society for Cellular Therapy within two terms of office.

One of the most outstanding specialists in oncoimmunology Prof. Igor Resnick is a deputy director of the Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Immunotherapy at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, as well as a Deputy Chairman of the Israel Society of Cell Therapy.


Both professors are guests of MU-Varna and their visit to our Sea Capital is in relation to their participation at the 25th Jubilee Assembly of the International Medical Association Bulgaria, which is to be held from 14 to 17 May 2015, at the Congress Centre of Admiral Hotel, Golden Sands Resort.
