The students of Medical University -
Varna took part in the swimming and tennis competitions at the 35th International
Student Sports Festival, organized by one of the most famous Turkish
universities, with more than 150 years of history, Boğaziçi University in
Istanbul.
More than five hundred students from near
and distant countries: the United States, Austria, France, Serbia, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lebanon, Qatar, Turkey, Bulgaria and others took part at
the festival, which was held from 9 to May 12. They competed in
several sports disciplines such as football, basketball, rugby, volleyball,
tennis, table tennis, swimming, yachting, etc. The sports competition was held
in the southern campus of the University, located on the Bosphorus.
The 2nd-year medical student
Kristian Krastev won the first place in three swimming disciplines- 50 m
freestyle, 50 m butterfly and 200 m freestyle. He was also second in 100m
freestyle.
The 3rd–year student in
Medical Cosmetics, Simona Borisova ranked first in 50m butterfly. She added to
her assets 3 more silver medals (second place in 50 m freestyle, 50 m crawl and
100m butterfly) and a third place in 100 m backstroke crawl. Velina Bogdanova ranked
third in 50m backstroke crawl.
The swimmers of Medical
University - Varna participated in three swimming relays, winning two first and
one second place.
Iliana Petrova, a 1st–year
medical student ranked second in tennis. Elitsa Mollova and Iliana Petrova reached
the semifinals in women's doubles and played against the host university team.
